JR Schoenfeld, Owner & Executive Chef
JR’s culinary journey spans 35 years, beginning with culinary school and evolving through roles such as Head Chef, Sous Chef, and Food & Beverage Manager at prestigious locations including The Canterbury Hotel and Lambeau Field. As Executive Chef, he brings his leadership and creativity to every plate. Since opening Chives in Suamico, he’s launched eight distinctive dining spots—each a bold experiment in flavor and hospitality. Now rooted in Door County, JR owns Chives in Baileys Harbor and Barringer’s in Fish Creek, along with food trucks focused on fresh, local ingredients. Family and a dedicated staff drive his mission: simple, fresh, unforgettable dining.

Vince Hill, Chef de Cuisine
Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Vince Hill brings more than a decade of culinary experience across Indiana and Michigan kitchens to Barringers. Known for his bold flavors and fusion-style cuisine, Vince has built his career through a combination of self-driven passion and mentorship under respected chefs. His background includes leadership roles in upscale dining, scratch kitchens, wineries, breweries, and concept development, where he became recognized for innovative menu creation, refined plating, and high-quality ingredients.
In 2022, Vince was named one of the YMCA’s “Top 10 Greatest Chefs of Michiana,” recognizing his growing impact on the regional culinary scene. As Executive Chef de Cuisine at Barringer’s, Vince brings creativity, strong kitchen leadership, and a commitment to delivering elevated yet approachable dining experiences.

Austin Dollinger, Butcher & Poissonier
Austin has been an integral part of the Chives and Barringer’s family for the past decade, earning a reputation as the team’s true “Swiss Army knife.” Over the years, he has worn many hats — from sous chef and bartender to server, caterer, and even handyman — bringing versatility, dedication, and an unmatched work ethic to every role.
An avid outdoorsman and passionate fisherman, Austin turned his love for the water into a profession through his charter business, Halcyon, where he guides fly fishing and deep-water salmon excursions throughout Door County. At Barringer’s, his expertise as butcher and poissonier reflects both his deep respect for quality ingredients and his connection to the region’s waters and traditions.

Shawn Jensen, Bar Manager
Shawn worked in manufacturing for many years and his family played a major role in developing his love for the food and beverage industry. Over the years, Shawn has worked for several restaurants in Door County and has spent time traveling during the off-season to warmer climates including Costa Rica. He also lived in Slovakia and Romania with his wife, Christina, while she finished school. They have now become the proud parents of Leon born in 2017. Today, you will find Shawn as our head bartender at Barringer’s in Fish Creek. He enjoys kite-surfing, paddle boarding, nature and maple sugaring.

Janelle Jensen, Pastry Chef
Our desserts are a work of art! They are created from scratch by Janelle Jensen our Pastry Chef. Janelle started her career as a line cook in Door County in 2004. She quickly discovered her passion and creative flare for the pastry arts. In 2007, she graduated from The French Pastry School in Chicago. She has worked for The Ritz Carlton in Naples, Florida, Petite Provence Bakery in Portland, Oregon and the JW Marriot/Ritz Carlton in Orlando, Florida to name a few. In 2020, she returned to Door County to join our team.

Grant Vytlacil, Lead Server
At 6’9”, Grant is a hard-to-miss presence at Barringer’s. With over two decades in hospitality since starting in 1999, he brings experience, dedication, and charm to our team. A Chicago native, Grant now calls Fish Creek home, where he lives with his two beloved cats. When he’s not ensuring guests have a memorable dining experience, he spends his time fishing and pursuing his passion for art and drawing. Grant’s year-round commitment makes him a cornerstone of our Door County family.
